Clam Up and Get Down!

Never mind the scallops… The traditional US clam bake with a jubilant twist is coming to Émigré Studios rooftop in Hackney this weekend in the form of God Save the Clam. Party on a rooftop with some sublime seafood and sinful sundaes with beach huts and camp cocktails for a beachside feel right on the heart of the urban east endin. Mix all this heady food and fine times with some sensational summery DJ Don Letts on the decks and you got a might night.

Competition is mighty high for parties during the jubilee, but this hot ticket is worth sinking your claws into.

When? Thursday 31st May – Sunday 3rd June
How much?  £40 for 3 courses of prime seafood, ice-cream sundaes + welcome drink!
Where?  Émigré Studios, 274 Richmond Road, London E8 3QW

Iron & Wine at Hackney Empire

When: Sunday 9th October

Where: Hackney Empire

Costs: £18 + booking fee LAST FEW TICKETS!

Finally, Hackney Empire (and Hackney in general) gets a gig and a venue juuuust right. Not a loud four piece set up with electric guitars and stupid a-symmetrical hair, but something simpering, quiet and thoughtful and above all, beautiful and beardy.

Iron and Wine (Sam Beam) play the Empire following the release of his fourth studio album (it’s been three years since the last one).

Iron and Wine will show their wares at Mare Street’s famous landmark, The Hackney Empire on October 9th 2011. You can get tickets in advance from the website for £18.

In the meantime, check out his beautiful acoustic folky tunes. Although, recently, he’s got a band and has beefed up the minimal aural vision of the past. This should be a sweetly emotional gig (is it wrong to use the word ‘emotional’?).

Party: Hackney SOCIETY Warehouse Party

When: Friday 1st July 2011

Where: Secret location to be revealed! (probably Shoreditch)

The good folks of We Are Not A Rockband are bringing a (packed full of old skool flava) taste of Chicago led acid house to Hackney in the form of SOCIETY’s second outing. Following on from the success of the London bloggers’ last rave at Metalworks, Islington, they are hosting this summer party – guaranteed to aurally stimulate visions of late 80’s, early 90’s house for those that remember and some stunning new sounds for those that don’t. Legendary DJ Marshall Jefferson will be the star alongside more renowned acid house DJs and of course the We Are Not A Rockband DJs.

WANARB say this…

“It really doesn’t get much more influential than Marshall Jefferson. Only a few people on this planet have been offered the title ‘Godfather of House’, and one stands out from the crowd as being the man that defined house music, and indeed dance music as we know it today. His name is Marshall Jefferson. In 1986 he played piano on a house record for the first time ever; the track was called “Move Your Body” and it single-handedly redefined dance music forever.”

The last rave was awesome – old and young coming together with one thing in mind, to party like it was 1989. Most of the early and discounted tickets have sold out, so get online and buy them HERE for a tenner before ticket prices go up on the night!

The line-up will be revealed nearer the time at
